On editors and sunflowers

A good friend of mine opened my eyes (yes, it was painful) to the petty, anal-retentive approach I had to this web magazine during the pre-launch process.

The whole concept of editor and edited belongs to the straight world of hierarchies. Here, we exist in a utopian alternative underground, where every word anyone writes is an eternal work of art and absolutely and unconditionally sacred.

As a matter of fact, even the rules of grammar and spelling are irrational, un-switched-on relics of the authoritarian age which we have left behind now that we are entering the age of Aquarius. I have only just realised the awfulness of the intellectual arrogance with which I criticized my fellow man’s syntax and eccentric spelling.

And all along my friends and companions looked on in pain and anguish, wanting to reach out to me and hug me and say “Mike! Just let it all go! Free yourself! Express yourself and just let it flow!”

And finally I was able to let it all go! I loosened my tie and the tears of shame flowed as I recalled the repressive, condescending indignation with which I had deigned to replace Es before Is and, indeed, eliminate unnecessary spaces before commas, and to restrict the beautiful, true flow of deep feeling welling up from the liberated beautiful souls of my fellow humans!

So thenk you my frends for saving thiss reck of humanity and restoring me to my fredom! I am now goeing to skip arund in feelds of buetifull sunflowers and throe my cloths to the winds to free myslef of the last vestidges of the authoriterian dinosaur system! Yeeee! I feele soe free!
